Firm Summary

Growing up in South Africa during the Apartheid era, I witnessed firsthand a serious injustice: one race of people had inferior legal rights because of the color of their skin. At an early age, I learned that just because the legal system is one way, it doesn’t mean the system is always right.  Sometimes, I learned, you have to fight.

I also learned the value of hard work at a young age.  My first job was dismantling heavy yogurt machines at TCBY and cleaning those machines at night, long after customers left. I was 15 years of age, earning minimum wage, and learning the meaning of hard work.

Hard work and attention to detail is what earned me an academic scholarship to the University of Georgia.  When I wasn’t studying or playing sports in college, I worked nights and weekends tutoring the University’s student-athletes, many of whom went on to play in the NFL. After I graduated magna cum laude with a double major, I attended the University of Georgia School of Law as I knew I wanted to practice law here in Georgia. There’s a saying, “It’s not what you know. It’s who you know.” To the advantage of my clients, I offer both: I know the law, and I know the lawyers I go up against and the judges who decide those cases. After all, I studied the law with those lawyers and judges, and played sports with them for many years when we were students at UGA.

After graduating law school I chose to begin my legal career at a prominent family law firm so that I could quickly hone my trial skills in the open courtroom.  In fact, I had my first bench trial weeks before any of my law school classmates were even sworn in to practice law.

With considerable trial experience under my belt, I was quickly recruited by a law firm that specialized in nationwide mass tort litigation, and I traveled around the country litigating against some of the largest pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.

After years of deposing doctors and experts, I teamed up with a former University of Georgia School of Law classmate to build a highly successful law firm.  In 2019 after having won headline verdicts and settlements that for years had put us on the front page of newspapers–including a $150 million dollar jury verdict–I decided to form a premier personal injury law firm dedicated exclusively to pursuing justice for injured victims.  Fast forward to today, and I have recruited exceptionally talented and highly-credentialed lawyers and paralegals. Together we work on all of our cases in a true team approach.

Winning big cases isn’t something I take lightly. Some of my more notable wins include winning in 2022 a hard-fought two-week jury trial in federal court that resulted in a $100 million dollar jury verdict. That landmark verdict is one of the, if not the, largest verdicts ever recorded in United States history for a civil rights violation. Also in 2022, I set a record for securing the highest settlement amount ever reached in a rural Georgia county. In 2023 after three years of legal battle, I settled just before trial a disputed liability wrongful death trucking case for $22.7 million dollars. What I am particularly proud of with that case is that two other law firms turned the case down because the police report placed complete fault on the deceased victim. Despite the odds, my law firm accepted the challenge, proved the police report wrong, and secured one of the largest wrongful death settlements in the last decade.  Finally, in 2024 I won a $1.6 million jury trial verdict which set the record for the largest jury verdict in Georgia history for a bicycle-on-bicycle accident.

My practice philosophy is simple: treat every client with the dignity, respect, and compassion that I wish for my own family.  In recognition of my verdicts and settlements, I am regularly honored as one of the top lawyers in the country and named a “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers Magazine and Atlanta Magazine.  I have also been recognized as one of the State’s “Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend Magazine, and Georgia Trend Magazine previously named me Georgia’s most popular personal injury attorney.  At 35, I was selected by the Daily Report as one of Georgia’s “On the Rise”, one of only 20 lawyers in Georgia to receive the honor.  I hold an AV Preeminent Peer Rating as well as an AV Preeminent Judicial Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and U.S. News & World Report lists me in the “Best Lawyers” category.

Picking up the pieces after a serious injury is emotionally and physically draining; I do my best to help my clients rebuild with an eye on the future.  I know that catastrophic injury litigation can be complex; I try and simplify the process for my clients.  It’s important that my clients know they can count on me to walk beside them at every step of their recovery and at every step of their case.

My clients find me from a variety of sources. Some are referred by friends or former clients, others are referred by other lawyers who do not practice personal injury law, and many are referred by personal injury lawyers who need help litigating their cases to a jury.  When my clients can’t reach me, it’s likely because I am spending time with my wife and three sons. I enjoy playing sports and coaching my boys in little league baseball, basketball, and soccer.
