James is a Pocatello native and a graduate of West Point (’93). He served as a military intelligence officer in the U.S. Army in Germany, the Middle East and throughout the United States. He then returned to his home state of Idaho where he graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law (’01). James’ service to the State of Idaho began in 2006 when he was elected to the Idaho House of Representatives where he served until 2010. He was elected once again in 2020 and is currently serving on the Agriculture Affairs Committee, Judiciary and Rules Committee, and the Revenue and Taxation Committee. He is also a past president of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association and the recipient of the Idaho State Bar Professionalism Award. James is married to Wendy, and they have two adult children. James enjoys CrossFit, spending time in the great outdoors, reading and taking Sunday afternoon naps.
