Firm Summary

I was born and raised in Spruce Pine, a small town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. After graduating from Mitchell High School I left for Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where I would ultimately stay for eight years. During that time, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Major: Political Science; Minor: History) in 1997 from UNC-Chapel Hill, spent a year working as the Legal Assistant at Carolina Student Legal Services, and then attended the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law. During my time in law school, I was fortunate enough to participate in the Holderness Moot Court Client Counseling Team and also in the Criminal Law Clinic. I received my law degree in May of 2001 and shortly after moved to Hickory and began practicing law.

In the years that I’ve been practicing law in Hickory, I’ve had the opportunity to help many folks who have been injured or the families of those who have tragically been killed as a result of someone else’s negligence. In that time, I have helped clients from the Unifour area and also from many surrounding counties. I’ve helped clients who have been injured or killed in motor vehicle collisions, tractor-trailer collisions, by defective products, by dangerous conditions on land or in stores, from animal attacks and those hurt intentionally by other persons. I’ve helped clients at all stages of the process, from the days and weeks following the injury or death all the way through a trial by jury. I’ve practiced at all levels of the General Court of Justice as well as the North Carolina Court of Appeals and have been admitted and appeared before the United States District Court – Western District.

Since 2001, I have been a member of the North Carolina State Bar and Catawba County Bar. I have also been a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice since 2001, and have had the pleasure of serving as the Chair of the Political Action Committee of the Autotorts Section since 2009.

In 2010, I was accepted as a Member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership is limited to successful trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement in the amount of One Million Dollars or more. I don’t represent that similar results can be achieved in your case, as each case is different and must be evaluated on its own merits.

I have also been fortunate enough to be chosen as a North Carolina Rising Stars 2011 and 2012 by Super Lawyers. As identified by the selection process, no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the State of North Carolina receive this designation. I am humbled to have received this distinction.
