Firm Summary

Aaron understands that the legal profession is ultimately about serving people, and he has spent most of his legal career working to protect his clients who have been injured by another person or corporation’s negligence.  He also holds insurance companies responsible when they put profits over their responsibility to compensate injured people, including their own insureds. Aaron is passionate about helping injured people and the families of those who have been killed, in part because his cousin was killed in a car crash.

Because the lawyer-client relationship requires a foundation of trust, Aaron created a law firm where people feel comfortable discussing deeply personal matters.  Aaron is fiercely loyal and will fight for what is right. He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 2001 (with departmental honors) and his J.D., magna cum laude(top 8% of his class), in 2005, both from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He served as Note and Comment Editor of the UMKC Law Review while in law school. During law school, Aaron clerked for several years for a well-known injury firm in Kansas City that focused on mass torts and pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, as well as motor vehicle accidents. After law school, Aaron clerked for the Honorable Laura Denvir Stith of the Supreme Court of Missouri.

Following his clerkship, Aaron gained significant legal experience with two of Kansas City’s largest law firms. In 2006, Aaron began practicing with Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, P.C. (now Polsinelli PC), where he focused on complex, high-stakes commercial litigation and represented plaintiff consumers in nationwide class actions and securities fraud litigation.  He also wrote numerous trial and appellate briefs, including briefs filed in the Supreme Court of the United States and the United States Courts of Appeals for the 7th, 8th, and 10th Circuits.

Later, Aaron moved to Husch Blackwell LLP where he helped negotiate large commercial multi-million dollar business transactions. In 2010, Aaron began teaching legal research and writing at his alma mater, where he served as a Professor of Law through 2014. As a law professor, Aaron taught students to draft documents used in all stages of litigation—in trial and on appeal. Aaron also presented at multiple legal writing conferences across the United States on multiple legal research and writing topics.

Aaron founded House Law LLC in 2012. He is licensed in Missouri and Kansas and is authorized to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the 8th and 10th Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas.

Aaron is a regular speaker at CLE events and for nonprofit organizations, and his law review article Obergefell’s Impact on Wrongful Death in Missouri and Kansas was published in 2016 at 84 UMKC L. Rev. 733 (2016).

Aaron spends as much time as he can serving the community.  He served on the Board of Directors of Della Lamb Community Services and Della Lamb Elementary Charter School Board of Directors and chaired the Marketing Committee from 2007-2010.  Aaron was also selected as a member of The Missouri Bar’s 2007-2008 Leadership Academy, and he served on the Young Lawyers Section Board of Directors of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) from 2008-2010.

From 2015-2018, Aaron served as Vice-Chair of the KCMBA Tort Law Committee, which he then chaired from 2015-2018.  Aaron is also a member of Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA), Missouri’s preeminent plaintiffs’ bar association, as well as the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association.

Aaron often receives recognition for his accomplishments on behalf of his clients.  In 2015 and 2016, Aaron was named a Rising Star in Missouri and Kansas by Super Lawyers, a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. He has since been named a Super Lawyer every year, most recently in 2022.  Aaron was also named Best of the Bar in 2015 and 2016 by The Kansas City Business Journal.

Most of Aaron’s practice involves representing people who have suffered a traumatic brain injury / concussion.  These injuries range in severity from mild (a misnomer as no damage to the brain is ever “mild”) to severe, and Aaron is a member of the Brain Injury Association of Missouri and the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City.

Aaron loves traveling and spending time with his dog, Bentley. He enjoys hiking in the Rockies and the Tetons.  Aaron’s family also gave him a great love for music.
