Firm Summary
Alan J. Markman has practiced in personal injury, medical malpractice, and civil litigation in New Jersey for over 25 years. He is aggressive and thorough in proving the negligence that caused your injury, and empowers his clients to get the best medical treatment to recover as quickly and as fully as possible.
As a practicing attorney in Bloomfield, New Jersey, he handles the full spectrum of personal injury cases, as well as workers’ compensation claims, DWI/DUI charges.
The Making of an Effective Trial Lawyer
Alan began his career practicing as an associate with Garry Furnari, a formidable litigator who is now a Superior Court judge. They handled both plaintiff cases and insurance defense. This experience gives Mr. Markman an important understanding of the information insurance companies are looking for when settling (or fighting) a personal injury claim.
Alan has devoted his practice solely to plaintiff representation since 1997, when he joined the Law Office of Theodore J. Leo in personal injury practice in Bloomfield. In 2002, he formed a partnership with Theodore’s nephew, Vincent Leo, and decided to remain a solo practitioner when his partner became a Morris County prosecutor.
Established in January of 2006, Markman & Cannan LLC handles chiefly personal injury, workers’ compensation, nursing home neglect, DWI/DUI, traffic violations, and residential and commercial real estate transactions. We serve clients in Essex, Union and Hudson counties.
Alan J. Markman is a member of the New Jersey Bar, the American Bar Association and the Association Trial Lawyers of America, and a lifetime member of the Cambridge Who’s Who.
Commitment to Personal Service
“My attorney doesn’t get back to me” is the most common complaint of people who have hired a lawyer. Our clients have Mr. Markman’s cell phone number and can reach him virtually 24 hours a day.
