Courtney Burge Brown grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1974 and from The Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in 1983. While in law school, Courtney was the Writing Editor for the Cumberland Law Review.

Admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1984, and to the Tennessee Bar in 1990, Courtney began practicing with her father and brother and continues after 33 years to practice law with her brother, F. Tucker Burge. Courtney loves working with her clients with a commitment to providing outstanding legal representation and professionalism to each client-treating each client as if he or she were her only client.

Courtney is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, the Birmingham Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Alabama Association for Justice, and the American Association for Justice. Courtney has served on the Grievance Committee of the Birmingham Bar Association, handled numerous cases for the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyer’s Program and is member of the Tom Robinson Society which is a group composed of about 30 Alabama lawyers dedicated to fighting for the rights of Alabama workers.

Courtney has received an AV preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review, which is a significant accomplishment and testament to the fact that her peers rank her at the highest level of professional excellence.

Courtney is active in the Birmingham community as a member of the Women’s Network, a professional association, and in serving as an elder and Sunday School teacher at Shades Valley Presbyterian Church. Courtney is also a member of the Board of Directors of Urban Ministry, presently serving as Chairman of the Board.
