Dennis is a proud New Englander.  He grew up in New Hampshire before attending college in Vermont.  He relocated to Boston in 1997 and has lived in Massachusetts ever since.
He enrolled in the Evening Division program at Suffolk University Law School, which allowed him to work full-time during the day.  His work experience during that time included handling property and casualty insurance claims for AIG.  He graduated with honors and became a member of the Massachusetts Bar in 2002.
Dennis began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County where he prosecuted criminal cases in District Court and forfeitures in Superior Court.  During this time, he gained valuable experience arguing motions and conducting trials on a daily basis.
In 2004, he transitioned to civil litigation representing clients at Morrison Mahoney – a large insurance defense firm.  Subsequently, he defended the insureds of Zurich North America and The Hartford in their staff legal law offices.

In 2008, Dennis became licensed to practice law in his native state of New Hampshire and his neighboring state of Rhode Island.

After 20 years in the insurance industry, Dennis encountered a crossroads in his career and decided to switch sides in order to advocate on behalf of injured individuals.  The decision was a game changer for him personally and professionally.

The renaissance as a plaintiff’s attorney began at Sheff Law Offices, P.C. in Boston, which later became Sheff & Cook, LLC.  His practice involved representing injured parties in cases with severe injuries or death with complex subject matters such as products liability, construction site accidents, and premises liability claims.  He was honored to achieve the position of partner during his tenure there and they continue to collaborate on cases when opportunities present.
In 2024, Dennis formed Teravainen Law, LLC.  Centrally located in Easton, Massachusetts, he represents clients throughout the Bay State, Granite State, and Ocean State.
After beginning their family in South Boston, Dennis and his wife Michelle moved to Easton, Massachusetts in 2010.  They have three amazing kids, two girls and one boy, who keep mom and dad extremely busy.
For many years, Dennis has volunteered as a youth soccer coach in the local travel team program.  In addition, Dennis and Michelle participate annually every March in a grassroots program promoting Random Acts of Kindness to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.

The Teravainen family are also passionate about supporting other charitable causes, both local and distant, including Love for Linley, Stronger Together, Easton Food Pantry, Hannah’s House, and the Arc of Greater Brockton.

When he is not shuttling kids between their many activities, Dennis enjoys creative writing, listening to music of all genres, watching NFL, and fantasy football.     Dennis also loves playing ultimate frisbee, disk golf, biking, road races, as well as soccer with his Over The Hill men’s soccer team, Hogs FC.  He would go kayaking more if only one of his family members would come along with him.
