He and his wife, Carolyn, served as Country Directors of Welfare Services for the Country of Russia for the LDS Church traveling throughout the country of Russia working with humanitarian missionaries and providing aid to orphanages, hospitals, care centers and schools. He has served in various ecclesiastical positions for his church, including Bishop.

Don and his wife have six children.
