Ed Azar was born and raised in Prospect Park. He attended Manchester Regional High School in Haledon. After attending and graduating with honors from Seton Hall University in 1974, Ed worked as an accountant for a brief period of time. He attended Delaware Law School of Widener University and graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree cum laude in 1977. He was admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey and the United States District Court that same year. In 1989 he was admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court. He has also been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Southern District of New York.

Ed has been active in the Passaic County Bar Association since 1977 he served as a member of the Board of Trustees. He has served on numerous committees and professional associations. Since 1984, Ed has served as the Municipal Prosecutor in Butler Municipal Court and was appointed as a public defender for many years in West Milford.  He is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, New Jersey State Bar Association and Passaic County Bar Association. Ed is serving in his second term as a Trustee for the Passaic County Bar Association.

He continues to serve on one Passaic County Early Matrimonial Settlement Panel and is the chairperson of his panel. Early settlement panels provide volunteer assistance and guidance to attorneys and individuals proceeding through the divorce process by making recommendations and advice as to the resolution of their case. He has been frequently appointed by the Superior Court to handle guardianship and probate matters.

He has represented clients throughout the State of New Jersey in the Superior and Municipal Courts as well as the federal courts in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. He has extensive experience in handling a wide variety of legal matters. His specialties are all types of personal injury matters, family law, general litigation, criminal law, estate and probate litigation, bankruptcy proceedings including chapter 7 and 13 matters, landlord/tenant matters, traffic court, residential, business and commercial real-estate transactions.
