Firm Summary
If there’s one thing that Hugh Green loves above all else, it’s this – helping people.
Hugh learned this trait as a young boy spending time with his father, a family doctor in Carthage, Tennessee. Hugh watched his father care for patients in their homes, hospitals and clinics. What he realized through this experience is that everyone wants someone they can trust to care for them.
That’s why Hugh became an attorney. He wanted a profession where he could help people. And Hugh has been doing just that for more than 40 years.
A fierce competitor
Hugh has always been a fierce competitor, which makes him a perfect fit for the courtroom. Hugh graduated with honors from Castle Heights Military Academy, where he was the Mid-South champion in wrestling. He attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin on a wrestling scholarship.
He later on received a Master’s degree from the University of Memphis studying anatomy and physiology. While in Memphis, he also worked as an insurance investigator and became interested in the law. Subsequently, he entered the University of Tennessee College of Law and graduated in 1978.
Gaining legal experience
While in law school, Hugh did an internship in Knoxville with attorney Zane Daniel, one of the best trial lawyers in East Tennessee. Hugh tried his first jury trial in Knoxville under the supervision of Mr. Daniel. This experience ignited his passion for the courtroom.
Upon graduation from law school, Hugh moved to Lebanon and began private practice with another veteran trial lawyer. This enabled him to gain further valuable courtroom experience. In his early years of practice he completed several, intensive trial practice programs such as the National Institute of Trial Advocacy held at the University of Colorado, led by some of the most accomplished trial lawyers and trial judges in America.
In the early years of his practice, Hugh represented the State as a prosecutor in criminal cases and represented insurance companies in civil cases.
Opening his practice in Lebanon, Tennessee.
In 1984, Hugh started his own practice and renovated the historic building at 100 Public Square on the Square in Lebanon, Tennessee. After many successful trials, in 1997, he was accepted into the American Board of Trial Advocates, a nationally recognized, invite-only organization which includes some of the finest trial lawyers and trial judges in America.
Throughout his career, Hugh has represented approximately 5,000 clients in civil and criminal cases in Middle Tennessee. Hugh continues to focus his practice on personal injury and criminal cases. Ultimately, he loves the opportunity to help people whenever he can.
Hugh resides in Lebanon with his wife, Judy, and daughter, Kennedy.
