In 2003, Luis A. Martinez merged his law practice with Joseph LaBarbiera which formed the current firm of LaBarbiera & Martinez.

Luis handles complex personal injury matters including wrongful death, construction negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice, and claims resulting from automobile and other vehicular negligence. Luis also regularly handles workers’ compensation claims.

Luis A. Martinez received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Seton Hall University 1987. In 1990, Mr. Martinez graduated from Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey. From 1990-1991, Mr. Martinez served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Peter Boggia of the Superior Court, Law Division, Bergen County. Mr. Martinez then was an associate with a personal injury law firm with offices in located in Fort Lee, New Jersey and New York City from 1991 through 1998. He then established his own practice of law in December, 1998.

Luis was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1965 after his parents fled Cuba and the communist regime Fidel Castro. He was the first American born member of his family.

Luis was appointed Municipal Court Judge for the Borough of Bogota located in Bergen County in 2007.

Luis was a featured lecturer for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education for a seminar entitled Lessons Learned from Handling Quadriplegic & Paraplegic Workers Compensations Cases.

Mr. Martinez is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania and in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and the American Association for Justice.

Luis is also involved in several charities and is a volunteer coach in his community.
