Melton H. Little is a Civil Trial expert having been Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a Civil Trial lawyer from 2004 to 2019. He is also a specialist in the area of Marital and Family Law in which he was Board Certified from 1993 to 2019. As a veteran of the courtroom, he has successfully tried over 50 personal injury jury trials to verdict as well as having handled a significant number of Family Law trials and hearings. He has a passion for helping his clients and the community. Over the past three decades he has built a reputation of expertise, skill and perseverance, as recognized by his clients and his peers.
He has been recognized by the Manatee County Bar association for his dedication to the community receiving the Manatee County Bar Association Community Service Award in 2004 and the Manatee County Bar Association William C. Grimes Award for Lifetime Achievement in Community Service in 2013. Between 2009 and 2018 he logged over 600 hours of pro bono legal services donated to those in need. He was instrumental in organizing and funding the Kallins, Little & Delgado scholarship program which awarded over $195,000 to over 65 Manatee High School Seniors. He has been active as a youth soccer and baseball coach, as well as serving as the varsity football wide receiver coach for Bayshore High School and as a volunteer soccer coach for Southeast High School. He served on the board of Manatee County Boys and Girls Club for over 22 years, holding virtually every leadership position including Corporate Board President. In 2003 he was awarded the highest honor the National Boys and Girls Club can award a volunteer: the Boys and Girls Club National Medallion.
He has been active in the Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Legislative Affairs Committee, the Public Schools Funding Committee, and Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee Task Force. A graduate of Leadership Manatee, he was appointed by the Manatee County Commission to serve on the Children Services Advisory Board from 2012-2015. He has also been a member of the board of directors for New Options, Keep Manatee Beautiful, Manatee Opportunity Council (now Step-Up Suncoast) and the Manatee County Bar Association.
Originally from Bradenton and a graduate of Bayshore High School, he received his undergraduate degree in public administration from Samford University in 1983 and his Law degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1986. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Law Degree (LLM) in Health Law and Policy from Hofstra University. He is an active member in good standing with the Florida Bar and is also a member of the District of Columbia Bar. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubble. He has an active Florida Real Estate License, placed with Suncoast Florida Realty.
He has a passion for the law and working to find solutions to legal problems and issues that are being faced by those he represents. He is the father of two boys and is married to his wife and law firm partner, Erin Brosious. He is an active golfer, a member of Bradenton Country Club and IMG at El Conquistador Golf Club. He is an avid reader, writer, and skilled Texas holdem poker player. As the son of Methodist Missionaries, he believes in his obligation and duty to serve God and his fellow man. He currently volunteers at the Church of the Cross food bank and is an active member of the Sertoma Club of Bradenton.
