Nathan Miller is a partner and co-founder of Miller Embury, PLLC. He specializes in personal injury and no-fault insurance litigation. He represents injured people and helps them receive compensation for their injuries, medical bills, and wage loss. Nathan also specializes in workers compensation law, representing injured workers who have been denied benefits.

Our right to a jury trial is enshrined in the Bill of Rights. It is the lawyer’s job to achieve justice for his client. Nathan loves administering justice to insurance companies and wrongdoers who have harmed his clients.

Nathan litigates cases from inception all the way through trial and appeal. In a recent workers compensation case, he represented a widow whose husband had been killed in a car wreck as he was driving from work to a welding class that his employer asked him to attend. The worker died leaving behind a wife and five kids. The insurance company refused to pay the widow any workers compensation benefits. Nathan won at trial. The insurance company still refused to pay, and instead tried to appeal the judgment. The case matriculated all the way up to the Michigan Supreme Court, which upheld the trial judgment and ruled in the widow’s favor. Lewis v LexaMar Corp, 507 Mich. 998 (2021). Nathan worked on that case for seven years, but ultimately justice was served.

Nathan recently tried a jury trial for auto no-fault benefits. The client was a poor farmer who was in a car wreck and suffered a torn rotator cuff and a broken wrist. She had paid her insurance premiums for 15 years without ever filing a claim. Still, the no-fault insurance company denied her claim, and had the gall to accuse her of fraud. The insurance company maintained a $0 offer throughout the entire case. The jury awarded every penny of no-fault benefits that were owed, totaling $199,586.39, and tacked on money for penalty interest and attorney fees.

Nathan graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University’s College of Law.

He also holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music. Before entering law school, he worked briefly as a freelance trumpet player. He lives in Traverse City with his wife and son.

Nathan is a member of State Bar of Michigan’s Judicial Qualifications Committee, which evaluates candidates for possible appointment to judicial vacancies and reports in confidence to the Governor. He was a former member of the Traverse City Board of Review, which hears property tax appeals from local landowners.
