Firm Summary
Obaidul Hoque is the head of OWS Law’s civil litigation, personal injury and administrative law practice group. He leads a thriving litigation practice and brings to the table an impressive breadth of expertise and experience.
Obaidul has been actively involved in trial and appellate advocacy before the Federal Court of Canada, Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice. He also represents clients in regulatory tribunals. From property, contract and estate disputes to claims arising out of wrongful dismissal, negligence, product liability and misrepresentation, Obaidul and his colleagues at OWS Law cover a range of practice areas.
In his civil litigation practice, Obaidul collaborates with and is assisted by another Ontario lawyer, Zaheed Moral, and their legal analyst Cezara Chesu. With a view to engaging with the community, Obaidul actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with other lawyers, including lawyers of Bangladeshi and South Asian origin.
Obaidul chooses complex cases and cases lost by other lawyers and immigration consultants. In each and every case, Obaidul’s primary goal is to listen and understand his clients’ needs and objectives, and to then partner and work with his clients to determine the most practical, expeditious and cost-effective means of achieving those objectives.
Obaidul studied law in Bangladesh at the University of Chittagong. He subsequently attended the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden to complete a Master of Science degree in Rural Development and Natural Resource Management.
Obaidul is a proud husband and a father of two young children. At home, Obaidul shoulders his fair share of cooking, coaching and chauffeuring the children to various lessons. When Obaidul is not in the office, with clients, or in court, he can be found volunteering for causes that are important to him including eldercare and access to justice, hiking, travelling and exploring his way around the world. Obaidul is fluent in English and Bengali, and has limited proficiency in Swedish, Hindi and Urdu.
