Scott J. Chafin, Jr. was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Scott graduated magna cum laude from McNeese State University in 2001 with a B.A. in English Literature. He received his J.D. degree from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans in 2005. At Loyola, he was a member of the Moot Court Appellate Board, and a member of the Mock Trial Team. Scott began his career as a prosecutor for the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office where he obtained extensive trial experience. In 2014, Scott became the Managing Partner for the firm and his practice is dedicated exclusively to plaintiffs’ personal injury law. As part of his work, Scott is actively involved with the AAJ, the national organization dedicated to training plaintiffs’ lawyers. He has attended the AAJ National Trial Academy at Harvard University, the AAJ Trial Skills Course in New Orleans, LA and the AAJ Advanced Depositions College in New Orleans, LA. He is currently a member of the AAJ Neuropersuasion and Jury Bias groups. Scott is also a member of the Shreveport Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Association For Justice.
Scott has been featured in Forbes Magazine for his successful jury verdict in a complex wrongful death lawsuit. The compensation he has obtained for his clients has earned him membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Scott has achieved an “AV” rating with Martindale-Hubbell which is the highest ranking attainable by an attorney based on evaluations by other attorneys for the highest level of professional excellence and ethics in the practice of law.
Scott serves as the Fundraising Chair for the Federal Bar Association. Since 2013, his efforts have raised over $45,000.00 for local organizations and in 2017 his fundraising efforts allowed $10,000.00 to be donated to Operation Bright Holiday at Barksdale AFB. Scott is married to Emily Chafin. Together they have three children and Scott enjoys coaching their youth sports teams.
