Shain Chapman, a trial lawyer with over thirty years experience, has tried lawsuits throughout Texas and into southern Oklahoma. Mr. Chapman is an “AV Preeminent” rated attorney by the national Martindale Hubble Peer Rating System, the highest rating awarded to lawyers. He has been certified as a specialist in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2002. Chapman served as the elected County Attorney for Mason County having been appointed to the position in January 2002, elected by special election in 2002, re-elected in 2004, 2008 and again in 2012. He left the position in 2014 when he relocated to Austin. As the County Attorney, Chapman was responsible for the prosecution of all misdemeanors in Mason County, all juvenile offenses including felonies, and advising the Commissioner’s Court and Sheriff’s Office. He worked closely with all local law enforcement agencies and is often appointed as a special prosecutor in neighboring counties.
Chapman was raised in Sherman, Texas, graduating from Sherman High School. He received his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University before he decided to enter the legal field. Chapman graduated, with honors, from South Texas College of Law in 1991 and immediately began his career with the Law Office of Larry Cain in his hometown of Sherman, Texas. After a few years, the firm became Cain & Chapman where Shain remained until moving to Mason in 2001 to raise his children in the Texas Hill Country. Mr. Chapman has been admitted to practice before the Texas Supreme Court, Texas state courts, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas.
