Steven A. Adler received a JD degree, cum laude, from Vermont Law School. Attorney Adler served as law clerk to Chief Justice Barney of the Vermont Supreme Court and as law clerk to Associate Justice Gibson. He was admitted to the Vermont bar in 1982. Attorney Adler is admitted to practice in all Vermont state courts, the US District Court, and the US Court of Appeals.
Mr. Adler devotes a considerable amount of his time to ethical legal issues and served from 2007 to 2016 on the Judicial Conduct Board (JCB), which investigates and decides complaints of ethical misconduct by Vermont judges. He was appointed to this position by the Vermont Supreme Court. Prior to chairing the JCB, for a number of years, he served as vice-chair of the Professional Responsibility Board, which regulates attorney ethics in Vermont. He still works on Assistance Panels for the Professional Responsibility Board. He is past president of the Caledonia County Bar Association and a member of the Vermont Bar Association.
Mr. Adler is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Vermont Association for Justice (formerly the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association) and is active on its Medical Malpractice and Workers’ Compensation committees. He has worked on a number of local boards, including serving twelve years on the of Board of Northeast Kingdom Youth Services. For a decade he served as Moderator for the Town of Barnet. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, a national association of trial lawyers representing injured individuals.
During the years between college at the University of Maryland and law school, Mr. Adler had a varied career, which included working as a club musician and running a small construction company in Montpelier. Currently, Attorney Adler’s practice is focused on personal injury law, a field which includes medical malpractice, workers’ compensation, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, nursing home negligence, carbon monoxide poisoning, slip and fall, negligence, and product liability. He has also litigated successfully a number of real estate and construction disputes.
